17 Mar 2010OK, I’ll admit it. I was never a big Alice in Wonderland fan growing up. I knew bits and pieces of the story, but not much of it. But, the fact that Johnny Depp played a big role in this movie played a big role in my desire to see it. The place was PACKED….I think the monsoon outside added to the madness, but most everyone at the AMC Stadium 17 were there to see Alice in Wonderland.

4 Mar 2010This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of AccuWeather. All opinions are 100% mine.
When you think about it, the weather can change our everyday plans very easily. This winter, the Northeast has been slammed with snowstorm after snowstorm. Emily’s birthday party was postponed twice last December. I have found that lately, I have made my plans for the week based on the weather report. Even in the summer, it seems as though it always rains when there is a Dave Matthews Band concert to go to. Basically, weather dictates what we do and when or even if we do it. How do you usually hear about the weather? I normally catch my weather on a local news website or on the local news. Now there is another option!
AccuWeather, established in 1962, is the World’s Weather Authority. They recently reclaunched their website to make it easier than ever for users to find the weather info they need even faster, like local forecasts, radar and local video. The new site includes four new lifestyle areas: Weather and Health, Weather and Travel, Weather and Home and Garden, Weather and Outdoor Activity. These new sections include a variety of five-day forecasts for key weather-for-your-life parameters that allow users to plan business, recreation, travel, exercise, medication, and more.
There is this thing….it is an unwritten rule of law between women. If one girl is interested in a guy, no other friends are to approach him, talk to him, make a move on him, etc. Most respectable women abide by this cardinal rule. Others, just simply don’t seem to care. It wasn’t until recently that I came across one of these women, not in real life, but on Twitter (This specific person shall remain nameless, but you know who you are!).
I told her, in a DM, that I was hanging out with a guy who was also on Twitter. Well, as soon as she found that out, she set her sights on him. But here’s the thing. He has become her online obsession. She DM’d him the day I told her about him, and well, lets face it, is still DMing him constantly even though she lives A PLANE RIDE away from him. Now, why would she do that? Of all the guys on Twitter? Why, oh why….would she become obsessed with the one that I started to like? It is for this reason that I have unfollowed and unlisted her on Twitter. I know she knows because she DM’d the guy IMMEDIATELY to tell him. I’m sorry, but I don’t need a friend like that.

First, I would like to thank all my readers for being patient in my absence lately. Sometimes I think no one even reads what I write, but then someone mentioned that they really missed reading new posts, and I realized that I need to update more often. Lately, it just seems like it’s been one thing after another and every time I go to write, something else happens and the blog post gets put on the back burner. I have about 10 posts that were all started and just have never finished. A lot of them are now old news. What a waste. Anyways, I’m sorry that I went MIA for a bit. Despite my hectic schedule lately, I must dedicate time at least a few times a week to write. It really is good for my soul.

19 Feb 2010It was recently brought to my attention by @jselss that Google saves your web history and has been doing so for some time. Now, they are also using this information to fine-tune any searches you do. See Google’s explanation of Personalized Search below:
I understand that Google is trying to make their search engine better, but I don’t like this idea AT ALL!!! I have been known to search some crazy things in my time. Do I really need Google to remember these silly searches? Luckily, for all of us, according to Google, there is a way to opt-out:
Signed in searches
To disable history-based search customizations while signed in, you’ll need to remove Web History from your Google Account. You can also choose to remove individual items. Note that removing this service deletes all your old searches from Web History.
Signed out searches
If you aren’t signed in to a Google Account, your search experience will be customized based on past search information linked to a cookie on your browser. To disable history-based customizations, follow these steps:
1. In the top right corner of the search results page, click Web History.
2. On the resulting page, click Disable customizations.(Because this preference is stored in a cookie, it’ll affect anyone else who uses the same browser and computer as you).
Or, if you’d rather just delete the current cookie storing searches from your browser and start fresh, clear your browser’s cookies.
Note: If you’ve disabled search customizations, you’ll need to disable it again after clearing your browser cookies; clearing your Google cookie turns on history-based customizations.
*A special thank you to my friends at Remarkable Search for letting me know about this!

15 Feb 2010At this year’s Grammy Awards held on January 31st, 2010, Dave Matthews Band had two nominations. Although they didn’t take home a trophy that night, they gave the crowd a great performance of “You & Me” from Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King:
